Vignette duty countries in the EU

As there are a lot of different toll systems in the EU for highways - also making a difference between cars and motorbikes - , we try to give some help with these infos.

Anyway the most motorbike-GPS have settings to avoid highways and there is no need for it, but sometimes it makes sense to make some miles on the highway, just like the trip plans are this can be a good option.

 

Overview of countries with vignette duties for highway and expressway in the EU ( last update 06/2026) :

  • Austria- shortest time slot 1 day for 3,80 € - 10 days for 5,10 € As they offer also to buy an e-vignette you can check here online if the bike has already an e-vignette: Homepage
  • Switzerland -  only anual vignette for the current year available for 48,-- SFR As they offer also to buy an e-vignette you can check here online if the bike has already an e-vignette: Via Portal: Your digital key for e-vignette and PSVA
  • Slovenia - shortest time slot 7days for 8,-- € (since 1st February 2022 only in electronical form available)
  • Czeck Republic- since 2021 Motorcycle don't need any vignettes/payment anymore - only cars need it !!!
  • Slovakia - motorbikes are also free from any payments - only cars need the vignette !!!
  • Hungary - as we had a lot of trouble with the acceptance from the hungarian authorities we dediced to forbid the use of hungarian highways. Our customers bought the e-vignette and got later a ticket with a very high fee on it. If you buy the E-vignette you must keep it for 2 years !!! if they ask later for it ( even months ) and you don't have it you have to pay over 100€ fine. So, please avoid that and use the national roads, which go also very good in Hungary as there not a lot of curvs.
  • Romania - motorbikes are also free from any payments - only cars need the vignette !!!
  • Bulgaria - motorbikes are also free from any payments - only cars need the vignette !!!

Our bikes are generally NOT EQUIPPED with any vignettes.

Actual vignettes from pre rentals will be not taken away, so you can may be profit from a pre rental :-)
